This was supposed to be one half of a collab between another artist. It was supposed to be my Piccolo blasting with her Yamucha blasting back. It just sorta...Fell through, I guess. But here it is.
I tried to mix my style with Toriyama's. One thing that bothers me about DBZ fanart is that it seems most peope feel like they have to mimmick Toriyama's style to the letter. I won't deny that it's part of the distinctive look of DBZ and definitely makes it much more recognizable, but I don't feel that we should be slaves to it. Particularly since Toriyama's muscles look like shit. The way I see it, so long as you make the head look as it should, you can take greater liberties with other things.
Also with the cape, I tried to give it a Jim Lee cape look.
Again, it's old. About two years. I can do better than this, I promise.

What is it you said to the kid? It ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward...
I don't think it's bad. It's actually quite good. The pose he's in is a little boring, but the coloring more than makes up for it. I look forward to seeing a piece that you're happy with because all the work I've seen from you has been impressive and done incredibly well. I can only imagine how awesome your best work can and will be.
I actually prefer people to apply their own style to DBZ pictures- makes them seem that much more awesome.
I love what you've done here- the little dirt chips are a great touch. And the cape is nothing short of epic. You can "do better"? Good God, you'll kill me at this rate!
Maybe it's old but still this is a great piece of artwork...you said that he was supposed to be blasting...but when I look at him It remindes of superman...piccolo is going to stop a speeding train...and any king of train a TGW...this trains go so fast that the wind it makes blows off piccolo's hat... XD
Returning to the artwork I really like the shading on this one Piccolo rocks.

I'll tell you, I had been and I am still a huge DBZ fangirl, but now I think Toriyama's muscles design looks like shit, too
